Locations of files

The installation of gvim/vim on Ubuntu put the files in /usr/share/vim/vimXX where vimXX is the version of vim (for me, vim80 at the time of writing), hereafter refered as INSTALL_DIR.

The configuration file of vim is in your $HOME, .vimrc (hidden file).
